Fontazzle Bedazzle!

Another Fontana, done and through! A lot of SLO locals made the drive down to the smoggy land of sand, tall trucks, and flat brimmed caps. Everyone had a good time, and a special thanks goes out to Aunt Tina and Uncle Tom for letting us all invade their sweet house.

Check out the photos and re-live the trip!

It's a good 4-5 hour drive south just to get to the race. Well, it's 4-5 hours until you hit LA's human shield of traffic.

Ah, the story of my life!

I spent a couple nights with a friend in Orange County. We had a very productive time, and painted up some official bicycleweed.com jerseys!

At the race, a general theme of ridiculousness took over. For starters, the first of the national mountain bike races was taking place on a hill in the suburbs. There was about 45 seconds worth of rocks and "singletrack" at the beginning of the course, then riders fed into a fire road to pedal for another minute. I paralleled the ridiculousness with a pink ski suit. But I prefer to think of the situation as the race paralleling me..

Questionable?

Friday and Saturday nights at Aunt Tina and Uncle Tom's were begun with a softball game. 14 year-old Rachel, their daughter, is the star player of the local league. We watched her embarass several batters with her fast pitches.
Back at the race, we had some fun in the midst of a soccer field just chillin'. Race scene 200hate!

Tina and Tom were more than hospitable- they even bought us all Chinese food! They've got a sweet hot tub, and made some great margaritas.

Race Day!

While some us did better than others, we all did OK. Check out the video for some footage of us SLO locals.

Ben Furbee had the fastest time of all the SLO people, with Leland and Kyle close behind. I was a bit farther back, but I still beat Anthony, which is all that matters. Just kiddin'!
There's nothing better than a pink track suit to complement a day in Fontana... I'm looking forward to wearing it at every national this summer!
I don't have any riding shots of SLO people. Send 'em off to me and they'll finish this report nicely!

See you at Sea Otter!
